Encephalartos gratus is a rare striking large tropical looking plant which looks like a palm or fern but is not related. this plant s leaves can exceed 3 meters in length 6+ meters in diameter leaf spread in ideal conditions, it requires some protection from the hot mid-day sun and hot drying winds, thrives in wet humid conditions, it is a robust grower with a thick trunk to 85cm+ in diameter to 3 meters high, predictable growth habit, low maintainence, good drainage is essential
Cycads are living fossil plants that have survived on the earth for almost 300 million years, they are classed as one of the most endangered plants in the world today, the international trade in these plants is controlled by the CITES ("Convention In Trade of Endangered Species" of plants and animals) of which around 150 countries around the world are signatories, it is highly illegal to trade in these plants unless prior permission is gained from the CITES authorities in the importing countries.

with our CITES documentation the importer is not required to have a CITES Import permit from his authorities to legally import these cycads, all that is required is for our CITES documentation and complete list of plants in shipment be sent supplied to customer, this is given to freight clearing agent to be presented to local authorities before shipment is sent.
The plants are inspected treated containerised and sealed at our AQIS registered export facility on our property.
